Promotion is gaining momentum for the series, an adaptation of Peter Shaffer's stage play, which was the basis for Milos Forman's acclaimed film "Amadeus." This time, Will Sharpe will star as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, seen in full makeup in the first photo from the "Amadeus" series.

Two Cities Television and Sky Studios have unveiled the first images from the highly anticipated classical music and drama series "Amadeus."

Will Sharpe, who previously worked in Poland on the film "True Pain," plays Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and will be joined on screen by Paul Bettany, among others.

He played the role of the protagonist's bitter enemy, court composer Antonio Salieri. The series also stars Gabrielle Creevy, who played Mozart's wife, Constance Weber.

"Amadeus" series - what is the production about?

The five-episode series "Amadeus," based on Peter Shaffer's play, was written by Joe Barton. The production will transport viewers to 18th-century Vienna, where the career of the rebellious musical genius Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart flourished.

The 25-year-old quickly becomes a thorn in Salieri's side. He resents the competition in the emperor's court, but at the same time, he can't deny the young man's talent. Salieri vows to destroy him, which begins a lifelong personal obsession.

"Amadeus" is directed by Julian Farino and Alice Seabright. It also stars Rory Kinnear, Lucy Cohu, Jonathan Aris, Enyi Okoronkwo, Da Ponte, Jessica Alexander, Hugh Sachs, Paul Bazely, Rupert Vansittart, Anastasia Martin, Nancy Farino, Olivia-Mai Barrett, Viola Prettejohn, and Jyuddah Jaymes. The series is scheduled for release later this year.
